It was a day of thrilling run chases in IPL 2020’s double-header on Saturday, with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals clinching decisive victories.

AB de Villiers turned out to be the star in the first clash of the day in Dubai and the South African’s extraordinary 55 off just 22 deliveries snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for Bangalore. Chasing a total of 178 on the day, the game looked to be slipping away from RCB’s grasp before a sensational assault by de Villiers in the penultimate over.

25 runs came off that costly over from Unadkat, with de Villiers duly finishing off the tie in the next over by smashing Jofra Archer for a six.

A similar script was on display in the subsequent clash of the day, with Delhi Capitals triumphing over Chennai Super Kings after some magnificent hitting by Axar Patel in the final over.

Delhi were chasing a target of 180 and were kept in the game by a superb ton from Shikhar Dhawan. Despite Dhawan’s heroics, there were still 17 runs needed for a win off the last over of the match.

Axar Patel stunned MS Dhoni’s team with three sixes against Ravindra Jadeja as Delhi stole victory with a delivery to spare in the end.
