Top REPs registered trainers in the region were invited to the New Balance and Apparel Group event and put through their paces in a series of gruelling strength, stamina and endurance exercises.
One-by-one, contestants dropped out of the intensive circuit training session as the difficulty of the cross-fit style workout increased.
And it was a case of last woman and man standing as Fiona MacDonald and Sam Bolger, lead trainer at Haddins Sports Consultancy & Studies L.L.C, were named the winners of the individual categories at the The Address Hotel, the Dubai Mall.
Both MacDonald and Bolger won a host of New Balance prizes at the inaugural fitness trainer challenge.
“The crowd was fantastic and the exercises were similar to the tough classes I do so in that respect I was quite lucky but it was just about not giving in mentally,” said female champion MacDonald.
Male winner Bolger added: “There’s a lot of good athletes here and New Balance is a great brand to be part of. It’s great to see how far REPs has come.”
Siddharth Dixit, General Manager of New Balance Dubai, said: “New Balance has always been known to help people move better and we feel we can help the community of registered exercise professionals to really make their mark.”
