Giovanni Sio scored on 80 mins as Stade Rennais FC drew 1-1 at home to AS Monaco, which further dented the visitors’ hopes of a top-two finish.
Olympique Lyonnais had moved a point ahead of Monaco prior to the match thanks to their 3-2 win at Toulouse FC 24 hours earlier.
However, things started well for the visitors. Andrea Raggi’s quickly-taken thrown-in was superbly flicked across the goal by Nabil Dirar, where Helder Costa was all alone to finish the move.
Traoré might have given Monaco the all-important second goal that would have earned them steer away with the win, but he could not find the target.
Danijel Subasic was called into action when Kamil Grosicki rifled a free-kick towards him but, following his parry, crisis was averted.
Sio then pounced opportunistically on Jérémie Boga’s pass to equalise from close range. Costil won another one-on-one with the luckless Traoré before Fabinho was denied by some brave blocks from the home defence in a frantic goalmouth scramble in added time.
