Evgeny Donskoy stunned 18-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday.
Federer had three match points in the second set, and led the deciding tie-break in the third 5-1, but the Russian fought back superbly to secure a 3-7, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5) victory.
He will now face Lucas Pouille of France for a place in the semi-finals.
The shock defeat came after World No1 Andy Murray cruised through to the last eight with a 6-2 6-0 win over Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
