The Indian opening partnership of KL Rahul and Parthiv Patel added 60 unbeaten runs in reply to England’s 477 before stumps on day two of the fifth Test between India and England in Chennai.
Patel was called in to open the innings as regular opening batsman Murali Vijay suffered a shoulder injury while fielding. It was a good effort from the Gujarat wicket-keeper to score 28 unbeaten runs, having kept for 157 overs.
Earlier in the day, India seemed to have got themselves on top after three quick wickets reduced England to 321-7. Overnight centurion Moeen Ali was dismissed for 146.
