  • Over 260 cyclists massed on a misty morning at the Al Qudra cycle path in Dubai for the third Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge build-up ride on Friday.

The 65km time-trial was the third of four increasingly difficult build-up rides ahead of the main Spinney’s Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge that takes place around the streets of Dubai on December 14.

The build-up rides for the Challenge have a reputation for attracting cyclists of all ages and abilities and despite the weather conditions the latest ride was no different, with 261 cyclists gathering to test their fitness.

Race Director Stewart Howison, said: “The idea behind the Spinney’s Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is to get more people into cycling; to show them how easy and accessible it is in Dubai and how it can improve your fitness and lead on to a healthier lifestyle.

“I am delighted to see so many people turnout today on the Eid weekend, particularly because the weather conditions were far from ideal this morning.

“To have over 260 cyclists come down and take part illustrates how the reputation of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is growing.

“Once again we had a range of abilities taking part, from people out just trying to keep up a level of fitness, to guys who are monitoring their times each build-ride in readiness for the main ride in December,” he added.

All information regarding build-up rides and the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge as well as the weekly training rides in Dubai is available online at www.cyclechallenge.ae.
