UAE OPEN BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

Launched in 1978, the tournament is the oldest of its kind in the UAE and is open to players who reside both locally and abroad. A total of eight ranked players from India and Malaysia have been invited and the winners will walk away with cash prizes, trophies and gift hampers worth more than AED 60,000. There are 26 categories catering for all age-groups from U-8 to veterans.

PHILIPPINE BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION GOVERNOR’S CUP

Three PBA teams are coming to play in the Dubai tournament. Ginebra are the most popular PBA team and will surely cause a buzz. Rain or Shine are a constant presence in most tournament finals and expansion Batang Global Port complete the line up. Thursday’s match is between Rain or Shine and Batang Global Port and on Friday Rain or Shine take on much-fancied Ginebra.

THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS SPORT QUIZ

AL GAFFAL TRADITIONAL 60FT DHOW RACE

The traditional sailing race honours the pearl divers who were integral to the emirate’s development as a young trading port. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the race features around 100 traditional boats. Spectators can watch from specially chartered Dubai Ferry rides which include food and beverages.

CITY FOOTBALL SCHOOLS IN AL AIN

Manchester City’s Football Schools programme is running weekly training sessions for young players in Al Ain over the course of the next two months, bringing the Premier League champions’ style and coaching product to the UAE.
The professional coaching team offers a wide range of sessions available to boys and girls aged 5-14. All new players will also receive a City Football Schools kit.
