  • Major champions Shane Lowry, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson have confirmed their participation in the third edition of the Saudi International from February 4-7.

Joining the three major winners already announced – World No1 Dustin Johnson, 2020 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and defending champion Graeme McDowell – an impressive total of nine major champions will be amongst the stellar field at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club.

Reigning Open champion Lowry, 2013 US Open winner Rose, 2016 Open champion Stenson and 2017 Masters champion Garcia are among the names bidding to start the year off on a strong note.

Irishman Lowry has made no secret of his ambition to qualify for his first Ryder Cup, saying: “I really do want to get off to a fast start in 2021 and try and secure my place in the team early if possible! I can’t imagine how stressful it will be if I am outside qualifying for the team as we get closer to the final qualifying events.”

The American major champion contingent will also have their eyes both on the trophy and on a place on the American Ryder Cup team, with five-time major winner Phil Mickelson returning for a second consecutive year while 2018 Masters winner Patrick Reed returns for a third time.
