John Stones’ name and a squad number of 24 appeared in Manchester City’s list of players for the 2016-17 Champions League on UEFA’s website.
Stones has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium in recent days but neither City nor his current club Everton have yet confirmed that a deal has been agreed.
However, after the deadline for squad submission the Champions League playoff rounds passing at midnight on Monday night, Stones’ name was included in City’s list.
Which means either a deal has been done but not revealed by the clubs, or an optimistic City fan is working for UEFA!
