Coach Pep Guardiola, who will join Manchester City this summer, paid tribute to his predecessor Jupp Heynckes after making history on Saturday.
For the first time ever, Bayern lifted the Bundesliga title for a fourth season in a row, and Guardiola was quick to point out that his hat-trick of wins since taking charge of the Bavarians in 2013 would not have meant so much without Heynckes’ contribution.
“I would like to share this title with Jupp Heynckes,” said the Catalan. “We have done something quite remarkable – four titles in a row.”
Guardiola leaves Bayern this summer after three successful years in which he has won three Bundesliga titles, one UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup and the DFB-Pokal, which he can still win again when his side face Borussia Dortmund in the final on May 21.
He may not have succeeded in winning the Champions League, but he nevertheless says he will look back with pride on what he has achieved in Munich.
“I want to pay a huge compliment to everybody who works here, to the fans and to the exceptional players.
“Every single one of them have helped us. And big compliments too to Borussia Dortmund, who have been huge rivals for us.”
