Following the FA Cup fixtures last week, we dive straight back into Fantasy Premier League whilst keeping in mind the events over the festive period.

Premier League leaders Liverpool, for example, showed the most promise with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold starring.

The Reds have a tricky fixture in Gameweek 22 as they travel to Tottenham before hosting Manchester United but have excellent games beyond that.

Manchester City should face no problems away to Aston Villa while Arsenal go to Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Leicester City, Chelsea and United play at home to Southampton, Burnley and Norwich respectively.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW22.

CAPTAIN – KEVIN DE BRUYNE | MANCHESTER CITY | 10.6M

Kevin De Bruyne may have blanked last week and given that he was the second most-captained player, several FPL managers will be wary of being burned again.

But you can’t ignore the most creative midfielder in Europe. He has 14 FPL assists already this season and the 73 key passes to his name suggests that more lie in store for those who keep the faith.

Last week was his first blank in five GWs during which time he’s managed two double-figure scores.

He will undoubtedly create chances against a poor Aston Villa defence that’s kept just one clean sheet in their last eight outings.

    ALTERNATIVES

JAMIE VARDY (10.1m) is a slight doubt for the game against Southampton but the home fixture is still appealing enough to make him a worthy candidate for the armband. The Saints have kept only two clean sheets all season and Vardy has 12 goals in his last 10 games.

MARCUS RASHFORD (9.1m) was another player who didn’t deliver in GW21 but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s been in great form. United need to respond after that performance at Arsenal and he’s just the man to step up at home to Norwich.

    BOLD CHOICE

ADAMA TRAORE (5.6m) remains one of Wolves’ most potent threats and set a new league record against Watford when he completed 15 take-ons. He’s bound to be heavily involved in the final third and faces Newcastle at home.

    DJIBRIL SIDIBE | EVERTON | 5.4M

Everton are on a mini resurgence at the moment and have great fixtures ahead, starting with Brighton at home this week. Djibril Sidibe looks like a regular now, seemingly preferred to Seamus Coleman. He has four assists in just 11 starts for the Toffees so far while he should pick up a few clean sheets now as well.

    ONE TO AVOID

    NICK POPE | BURNLEY | 4.7M

Burnely haven’t been the best defensively but Nick Pope has put in some excellent displays to earn his seven clean sheets this season. However, with a faltering back-line ahead of him, immediate fixtures don’t bode well for his FPL outlook. The Clarets face Chelsea, Leicester, United and Arsenal in the next four GWs.

    DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN | EVERTON | 5.9M

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in the form of his life at the moment and has even received high praise from new manager Carlo Ancelotti. He’s scoring a goal every 152 minutes this season and will be backed to do so again at home to Brighton.
