Manchester City are currently in a downward spiral that is threatening to make Pep Guardiola a Europa League coach next season.
In principle, an early announcement from Manuel Pellegrini was a bold and good idea that let players concentrate on the rest of the season without constant speculation around who their coach would be.
However the announcement, coupled to a glut of injuries to some players and a lack of form from others, has led many to believe that the announcement has had the opposite effect as players now look more lackluster and unmotivated than ever.
