  • Grace Harris.

Brisbane Heat opener Grace Harris on Wednesday hit the fastest century ever in Australia’s Women’s Twenty20 Big Bash League, reaching three figures off just 42 balls.

West Indies’ Deandra Dottin holds the record in Internationals, smashing a century off only 38 deliveries against South Africa in 2010.

Harris’ unbeaten 101 with five sixes and 13 fours helped her team beat the Melbourne Stars by 10 wickets in Brisbane.

The previous fastest ton in the women’s BBL was by Ashleigh Gardner, who took 47 deliveries to reach the landmark last year.

“I’ve been working … on a back-of-the-length baseball type slog, and so when it sits up and comes into my hip, I can just have a swing and clear the fence, because I’m strong enough,” Grace said after the game.
